Matthew 21:1-11; Mark 11:1-11; Luke 19;28-44; John 12:12-19

5 Significant Details in Palm Sunday

1 - God's perfect Timing

Zachariah 9:9-10 - King coming on a donkey - prophecied hundreds of years before Jesus came.

Romans 5:6 - While we were weak, Christ died at the right time

Rest in God's Sovereignty

God has a plan - Christ came at right time and He will come again.

God is in control. Jesus came at the right time. As Jesus comes in to Jerusalem for the last time, the crowd is out buying lambs. You have 1/2 million people buying lambs for their sacrifices. Jesus comes - it is perfect timing. The crowd lay down palm branches and their coats.

2 - What people wanted

     1. Be propitious - Make us right with God

I John 2:2 - propitiation - Jesus appeased God's wrath

     2. Save us now

3 - Gentle Entry

Matthew 5:5 - the gentle/meek will inherit the earth, 11:29 - My Yoke is easy and burden  I Peter 3:4 - gentle quiet spirit - humility of God

God will not force His way in

Revelation 3:20 - I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and he with me.

Jesus is always coming to us. He came to Adam & Eve. He came to people in the wilderness. He came in the form of His son. We run from Him but He chases us.

He will come again.  Praise God. He will come again!!

4 - Sad Realization - Jesus is brokenhearted - Jesus on a donkey crying over the city.

Who do you lament over? in Luke 19:41 - Jesus wept over Jerusalem and the people who did not recognize who He was. The King coming on a donkey for the sins of the world.

This week, write a lament - are we broken hearted over things that matter.  Be broken, but celebrate because we can look to the next coming.

5 - Prophetic Vision

John 3:18 - Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

People who miss Jesus - nothing is worth more than being separated from Jesus.
